Siena the Beautiful

During our stay in Siena Peter has required us to go to places around Siena. Places we would go anyways but the program pays for it! Anyways we went to Cathedral Museum and saw some great paintings by Duccio. The scenes from the last days in Christ's life were my favorite. Considering they actually portrayed a resurrected Christ and did not just focus on the cross it was nice. One room held some of the skull heads that were reliquiries in the Cathedral. This museum also provided us with the most amazing experience to overlook all of Siena. You climb these windy sketchy staircases to have the most spectacular views of Siena and the surro
unding area. Once again it was one of those times where you think, "Wow I live here. This is amazing"!! The big picture should be enough to understand why I LOVE Siena and Italy!! In the picture you can see Il Campo the famous Piazza where the Palio takes pla
ce and where we like to hang out. We were sad to leave but had to go visit the Baptistry and crypt which were pretty uneventful. We did go to Siena's Duomo which is definitely one of my fav's because of the ornate designs with the blue and white marble polychrome. The floors are impressive considering it is almost completely covered in designs. The last place we had time for was a random museum that I spent all of 10 minutes in. This is after we passed the contrada party that they were setting up for. It looked like Chinatown meets India Taj Mahal with people riding on donkey's. It was extremely odd but they go all out for their parties.
